Forthglade Great Dog Walk Together
join Forthgalde on 24th November
We were delighted to support the launch of The Great Dog Walk Together initiative earlier this year, and we couldn't think of a better way to beat the winter blues than to arrange our very own Forthglade Great Dog Walk Together here on our beautiful South West Coast Path.
Our Forthglade Great Dog Walk Get Together will take place 24th November at 2pm, setting off from the National Trust Baggy Point Car park in Croyde, North Devon, EX33 1PA. We'd love as many of you as possible to join us and welcome dog walkers of all ages, to help promote wellbeing during the winter months through fresh air, exercise and meeting new people.
Forthglade Great Dog Walk Together Checklist
- Check the weather before you leave to help you decide what you may need to bring with you
- Make sure you've got a lead and collar/harness with you - our walk will be on the Coast Path and it's advised that dogs should stay on their leads at all times
- Wear sensible, comfortable shoes
- Make sure you've got plenty of old towels in your car to avoid any muddy-mess from dirty paws
- Bring plenty of poo bags to clean up after your dog and keep our coast path pleasant for other walkers
- If your pup is prone to feeling the cold, make sure you've got a coat or jumper for them as it can be quite windy by the coastline
- Make sure you wrap up warm too! Wear a waterproof jacket if the forecast isn't great, and it may be worth bringing a hat & scarf too
- As always, make sure to bring water for your dog
- For any of those keen for their dog to get fifteen minutes of fame – let us know as we’ll be bringing our friendly cameraman along, to turn the walk into a mini film for social media, so your dog could get a starring role!
Founded by Elaine Brown, The Great Dog Walk Together aims to make it as easy as possible for dog owners to benefit from more social interaction through walking with their canine companions.
“Dogs provide an easy starting point for any conversation, as you immediately have something in common with the other person at the end of the leash. Regular exercise and social interaction is key to staying fit and well especially for your dog during the winter months." Elaine Brown, The Great Dog Walk Together founder
The Great Dog Walk Together have tried to make it as easy as possible for everyone to join in, including those that like dogs but may not own one. If anyone wants to create a walk on the website www.greatdogwalktogether.com, they simply send in details of the walk, to receive an information factsheet and poster.
All walks will be listed on the website and shared across social media by the event organisers - In Your Dog House Gifts and Forthglade natural pet food, who are supporting the events.
Walks can involve small groups meeting locally for a leisurely stroll or longer walks through parks or surrounding countryside – everyone can set their own distance and pace.
